WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE "PU BASED" and "WB BASED" ADHESIVE?

INSTALLING EPDM ROOFING

The difference between the PU Based and the WB Based STRUCTASEAL® adhesives is the composition. This composition affects the application of the adhesives and installation of the EPDM roofing.

BONDING ADHESIVE WB:

A water-based adhesive which is applied on one side to the flat horizontal surface. It is an adhesive without solvents, so it is not useable on all surfaces. The STRUCTASEAL® BONDING ADHESIVE WB must have an absorbent substrate (timber). Because it is water-based, it is easy to apply during installation and to partially correct after application.

This water-based adhesive can only be used in the central zone of the flat roof. There is also a limitation to the height, this is a max. 3.00 metres. In practice, this often is used on roofs of carports, garden houses and canopies.

No solvents
Only for adhering on timber substrates
Height restriction is 3 mtr. from normal ground level
Not to be used for adhereing upstands and edges

STRUCTASEAL® BONDING ADHESIVE PU BASED:

Solvent-based PU adhesive which is applied on one side to the central zone of the flat roof to bond the EPDM roofing. The adhesive can be applied to a timber substrate as well as to a suitable insulation board.

On both timber surfaces and suitable insulation boards
Not for adhering up stands and edges
No height restrictions when applied correctly
Do not apply the EPDM roofing immediately after application, the solvents within the PU adhesive must evaporate first
