Installing EPDM roofing
What type of adhesive do I need for EPDM roofing?

For adhering EPDM roofing, we make a distinction between the central roof surface and the edges and upstands. The contact adhesive must be used for all upstands and edge fixation. It is available in 2 variants: STRUCTASEAL® CONTACT BONDING ADHESIVE or SPRAYBOND.

STRUCTASEAL® BONDING ADHESIVE PU BASED or BONDING ADHESIVE WB is required for bonding the central roof surface. The base and height of the roof are the decisive points for deciding which one to use.

STRUCTASEAL® BONDING ADHESIVE PU BASED:
A solvent-based PU adhesive which is applied on one side on flat horizontal surfaces (both timber and suitable insulation boards).

On both timber surfaces and suitable insulation
Not to be used for adhering the upstands and edges of the roof
No height restrictions when installed correctly
Do not apply the EPDM immediately after application, the solvents in the PU adhesive must evaporate first
STRUCTASEAL® BONDING ADHESIVE WB:
A water-based adhesive which is applied on one side to the flat horizontal surface. It is a water based adhesive without solvents, so it is not suitable to all surfaces. The STRUCTASEAL® BONDING ADHESIVE WB must have an absorbent substrate (read: wooden substrate). Because it is water-based, it is easy to apply during the installation and to partially correct after application if needs be. This water-based adhesive can only be used in the central zone of the flat roof. There is also a limitation to the height, this is max. 3.00 metres. In practice, this means it is generally used on the roofs of carports, garden houses and canopies.

No solvents
Only for adhering on timber substrates
Height restriction is 3 mtr. from normal ground level
Not for adhering upstands and edges
